We also participated in the T-shirt contest set up by the organisers – and won it.

 On Stage collecting the prize

As winners of the contest, we were awarded USD 1000 to donate to a charity of our choice. As the expert in water environments, we picked an organisation with a cause dear to us – Water.org .The latter is a non-profit organisation that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation.

We’ll make this donation through their portal –TEAM.Water.org – a nationwide community of endurance athletes whose passion for sport is matched by a strong commitment to providing safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Members of TEAM.Water.org raise awareness of the water crisis and select races (of any kind) in which they match the race entry fee with a donation to Water.org.

A little about the winning T-shirt design:

Creating our team’s T-shirt design was a collaborative and fun activity. Right from the conception stage, each team member provided her/his own personal ‘touch’.

It comes as no surprise that, as the expert in water environments, our chosen theme was water. The T-shirt design illustrates how water is propelling us forward (in the race and in life). Leonardo Da Vinci’s well known, inspirational quote – ‘Water is the driving force of all nature’ was used in the design. Our T-shirt was thought about and created in a very unique way, and that is what made it stand out. It represented each one of the runners as well as the spirit that drove us as a team.

We’d like to thank everyone who voted for our T-shirt design and most importantly, all the runners who made this event possible.
